Welcome to the 2008-2009
Rotary year.
|
As
you visit the website of District 9650, in Northern New South Wales,
it gives both Di and I great pleasure to welcome you to this fantastic
part of Australia. From the coast to the Inland, the District
encompasses many and varied terrains and topographies from the
fantastic coastal beaches of Coffs Harbour and Woolgoolga in the North
to Taree and the Great Lakes region in the south. As you traverse the
Great Dividing Range you experience the lushness of semi tropical and
temperate rainforests and then onto the Western plains with the great
cities of Tamworth and Armidale, the more western townships of
Narrabri, Moree and Coonabarabran and finally after quite a long hike
to the townships of Coonamble and Lightning Ridge.
And Rotary is alive and well in the
District with 55 Clubs and over 1600 Rotarians, with an emphasis to
see this number grow to 2010 in the year 2010. Each Club in the
District is autonomous, meeting at different times through the week
and participating in a wide range of local, district and international
projects.
We have adopted as a theme in this
2008-09 year in District 9650 that all Rotarians in the District will
work towards “Building Better Communities” – a great goal and one
which we know can be achieved. So please come and join us in this
exciting year where our International President Dong Kurn Lee has
challenged us to work for the children of the world and “Make Dreams
Real”.When we as Rotarians are faced with any task that seems too
immense to contemplate, there is only one place to begin: and that is
the place where we are standing. We begin our work where it can do the
most good – and that is in our own community and in District 9650.
Welcome to District 9650 where great
things happen.
DG Ken Hall (Di),
